The Hardanger Fiddle

The Hardanger fiddle has been played and produced in Hardanger since the 17th century.

In additon to four main strings this instrument has at least four understrings whitch gives it a speific sound quite different from the violin.

At the museum you will find the most complete collection of Hardanger fiddles in the country. In addition you will find exhibitions, folk music archive, and a concert scene for traditional music.
